I Wanna Be A Rock Star!

Ok, so I readily admit that I wanted to go to the Nickelback concert just to hear them sing "Rock Star" (which I claim as my life anthem), but after the amazing show they put on I can officially say I am a follower. All three groups were great in their own right, but Nickelback definately stole the show. Great pyrotechnics, great fan participation, and best of all great tasting beer! What else could you want? There were some "dark" moments during the show when Amy and I were convinced that members of the bands were vampires. I mean really, if you just look at them you can tell. But to top it off we could relate Twilight to almost every song they sang.

"Someday":

How the hell did we wind up like this?

Why weren't we able, to see the signs that we missed

And try to turn the tables

Now the story's played out like this

Just like a paperback novel

Let's rewrite an ending that fits

Instead of a Hollywood horror

Nothing's wrong, just as long asYou know that someday I will

Someday, somehowI'm gonna make it all right but not right now

I know you're wondering when

(You're the only one who knows that)

Someday, somehow

I'm gonna make it all right but not right now

This is so Edward making Bella wait to be a vampire. Amazing how you can make everything in your life relate, huh? I really need to move on!!
One of the best parts of our "after party" - making Ryan walk through the Taco Bell drive through to get a taco that the forgot to give us. Some things never change! Thanks for the great time!!
This is my newest obsession, at least for Friday. I found this at Menards today and it claims to be able to change your laminate countertops into a color that you want. I have been wanting to replace the counter in my bathroom and thought I would have to special order the piece and spend money we don't have and then this beauty came along. I am going to give it a try to tomorrow. The worst case scenario is that it doesn't turn out and I still have to get a new countertop . Best case is that I spent $17.99 on this and it transforms my bathroom. Wish me luck!!

What a weekend!!

Alright - I am officially declaring it spring! After this weekend I hold out hope that we will see no more of the s word. I don't have any pictures of the kids, but do have some of the crazy projects Brad and I took on (and conquered!) on Saturday.
I have had this table since before I can remember and it has spent the last 7 years in my basement, so it was time for a change. I did a little sanding, some spray painting, and viola...

here it is. I forgot to take a picture without stuff on it, but I was so excited to get it in my livingroom with some of the new accessories I got for it.

Here is its new home. Not sure what I want to do with the mirror yet, maybe the same color paint. We'll see how ambitious I get this week!

Before any of that happened I decided that Brad and I were going to rearrange the livingroom. Once we got stuff out I realized how disgusting the floors were and had Brad run out and get a Rug-Doctor (love him, by the way!) This is Brad working hard, don't feel bad though, I think he really enjoyed the task.
You might think "gross, I can't believe that Darcy's floors were that dirty!" Well, think again - that water is from washing my walls!! I know - disgusting! I was shocked once I started wiping them down with soapy water. To say the least I feel like everything in my upstairs got a little makeover this weekend.

Here is the new arrangement for the livingroom. We can't believe how open it is and how much we love it. Why didn't we think of this sooner?

After church today we went out for my mom's birthday at PHAT Daddy's (delicious!) and played in the park with the rest of the family. Needless to say Tate didn't make it home without starting his nap a little early.

Teagan, of course, stayed up until we got home, but had to take a picture of herself. You wouldn't believe how many of this exact picture I have deleted off my camera. I think I might have a specific aunt (Beth) to thank for this! Nice, huh?

We played outside later this afternoon and grilled for supper. It was a taste of the spring/summer to come and it can not get here fast enough!! It was great to see picutures of our friends' families enjoying their weekends too!

Celebrity Apprentice update: Tom Green is the next to be "FIRED". All I have to say is its about time!! He was pretty much worthless, but not as worthless as this guy
I thought maybe this would be Dennis' moment to shine since the task was selling wedding dresses...
but not so much. Anyway, he survived another week. I am excited to watch Dancing with the Stars tomorrow and am trying to finish the last Twilight book. If I start now I can get a couple more chapers under my belt. For those of you who have read it I am about half way through - waiting to see what exactly is living inside of Bella. Off to bed with vampires!! Have a great week!!

I Heart Shawn!

Shawn Johnson that is! I just watched her on Dancing with the Stars and she was awesome! The judges were really impressed and I am making her my pick to win the whole thing. So what if I couldn't hear what she had to say about her dance or watch very many others. It's all about Iowa pride! I am still waiting for Melissa to show me what she's got. By the way - nice tramp stamp Mel!!

My $.50 Finds
You read it right. I got each of these for $.50 at Star Drug today. I have been watching them for awhile in the clearance corner in the basement and was excited to see each of them labeled $1 and then 50% off. I am planning to use them in my livingroom. I also picked up some spray paint for my table in the livingroom. Projects here I come!

My addiction goes to the next level

Since I started reading the Twilight series I promised myself that I would not watch the movie, but I cracked a little today and watched the trailor for it online. All I can say is - show me the movie!! If it weren't coming out on DVD in a couple of weeks I probably would have searched high and low for some theater that was still showing it. I also noticed in the news that Dakota Fanning has agreed to play Jane in New Moon. I can't say that is exactly who I pictured, but she will work. She has been in enough creepy films that she could pull off a vampire.

For those of you who may not be into Twilight just be forewarned that many of my upcoming blogs will probably be very focused on the books. I have read the first 2 and have the last 2 left (plus the online edition of Midnight Sun: Edward's version) My goal is to have them done so I can buy Twilight when it comes out on DVD!
I also have a ton of projects around the house that could use my attention, but I have 2 days off next week to focus on those - definately not enough time to get everything done, but here are my main goals:
1) Make a new bedspread and curtains for my bedroom
2) Possibly paint a wall of my bedroom
3) Paint table for entryway (otherwise known as the wall by the livingroom door)
4) Clean out tubs of kids clothes and organize by size
5) After I get the big stuff done have Amy come over and suggest where to put stuff. Amy doesn't know this yet, so she can consider this her official invitation/begging!

One last addition to this blog. Celebrity Apprentice's latest victim:

Goodbye Scott - you tiny little man!

A Lazy Saturday

This pretty much sums up the Schaefer house today. Too lazy to even get out the camera and take real pictures! Teagan is off baking cookies with Aunt Beth, G-ma Von Ahsen, and G-Gma Young. Not sure when (if ever) she will return, but it reminds me of how quiet my house used to be with only one child. That doesn't mean Tate didn't leave a path of destruction in every room he was in, but it was nice to hang out with kiddo #2. He doesn't get free reign very often, but he is definately enjoying it.
We enjoyed a fun night out with friends last night - 3 Samurai, Piano bar, and then the good ol' Sundown. We were excited to learn that Blake and Ann are the first couple to kick off baby palooza #2 in Williamsburg!! Congratulations you guys - we are so happy for you!

The only other excitement for today was a letter that we got from Jill in Africa. All seems to be well and she is excited that their cool season will be starting soon - highs only in the 70s! I was going to post a bunch of pictures because some of them are amazing, but I emailed them to those of you who have asked about how she is doing. Maybe someday I will figure out how to create a link from my blog to kodak. But not today - that would take way to much effort and the couch is calling my name! Hope everyone got to enjoy the dreary day just a little bit - have a great rest of the weekend!

Round One!

It was bound to happen - the kids had their first knock down, drag out fight the other day. So, being the great mom I am what did I do? I spied on them from around the corner and let it happen! I know not the best parenting, but it was nothing short of hilarious! Tate was chasing Teagan with a plastic golf club and I kept hearing Teagan yell, "Tate, no!" Tate would scream and everything would start over again. When I finally checked on them Teagan was curled up in a ball on the couch and Tate was raring back, ready to swing. I had to stop him before Teagan got hurt, but I couldn't help but think that this is what my house is going to be like for at least the next 12 years while they live in the same house. I remember so many times when my brother and I would fight and I could have beat him senseless if mom hadn't stopped me! I can only imagine what my kids are going to get into. This is Teagan presenting the "evidence".And Tate letting me know how he feels about not being able to beat the crap out of his sister with a golf club!

I did get a chance to take some "nice" pictures of the kids.
Tate loves his tractors - even though he calls them all "combines"! He is truly all boy!Teagan helped Brad make a cake for Becca's birthday on Sunday. The cake was really good and they were both really proud of themselves!
Teagan broke Baby Alive back out after she had been in hiding for awhile. She is peeing all over the place and she is currently wearing one of Tate's outfits. We all remember those days!
So big!! Cute until you realized he is sitting on Teagan's princess desk!

On a non-kid related topic - I played hookey today and did some shopping with my mom and sister. One of our stops was Gordmans and do they have some great deals. Right now they have 50% off of their clearance items. I got some cute stuff and I am going to try and post about it later when I get some of the stuff where I want it. I love a good deal - and in case you were wondering I didn't buy any clothes! I fought off the urge - it wasn't easy!

Hear no evil, speak no evil, say no evil ... about mommy!

While at lunch at my parent’s today Teagan again spoke words of truth. Tate was yelling at Brad or whoever would listen (again) and Teagan said (with no coaching mind you) “Tate stop yelling at Daddy, that’s mommy’s job!” Everyone cracked up knowing that it was the truth! It is always amazing what kids have to say. There are times where Teagan is talking to people and I am terrified of what she is going to share!

That got me thinking about some of my kids’ favorite phrases - ok, maybe not their favorites, but definitely some of mine!
Bikini: Teagan likes to wear this, but usually when she says it she is referring to zuchinni Pirates: My all-time favorite Teagan word. She was not referring to the guys with patches - more like her privates, but she couldn’t quite get the difference. Still a running joke with a lot of moms I shared this with!
Brown titus: According to Teagan this is what Kameron was diagnosed with when he was sick. I didn’t have the heart to tell her it was bronchitis - she was so concerned
Mom: This one comes from Tate. Anyone who has been around him when I am in his sights knows that “Mom” is not so much a noun as it is a command. Anytime he needs or wants something this is what he yells - not speaks - yells this word. Its one of those moments when you wondered why you desperately wanted your kids to say your name!

Cow: Not really that funny until you realize that your one-year-old is labeling everything a cow and mooing at it. Puppies, tractors, people have all fallen prey to Tate’s first animal word. He has since gotten better and only mixes up puppies and cows!I haven't really watched many episodes of Celebrity Apprentice on NBC, but I caught part of tonight's show and I think I might become a follower. They have a ton of well know people, but already their are personalities are clashing. I love how people will turn on each other in a moments notice - even if it is for charity. This might have to replace my Real Housewives void on my DVR!

Had another great book club meeting this afternoon. It is always nice to just sit down with women who do the same thing as you everyday and enjoy their company! That being said - I am off to read my non-book club book "New Moon". I am trying to give myself enough time to finish it by tomorrow. I just can't stop!! Wish I felt this way about housework!!
