Seriously?

You may remember that I blogged about my kids' injuries last week. Well, this week it was round two. They are quite the sight!I know I shouldn't be posing for pictures like this, but I just can't help it!

So here it is - Miss Teagan and her face. The scrapes on her nose came from a little mishap at daycare on Tuesday. It looks worse than it is, but I really want it to heal well. Any advice?
You might also notice her right lip is a little swollen. That came from yet another bike riding incident last night. Good thing she had on her new helmet!

A quick Tate update - his bump is still there, but has gone down quite a bit. The hubby did meniton that he fell down all 3 concrete steps last night in front of the house. Luckily he is getting really good at the "tuck-n-roll" so no major injuries! Please nobody call DHS - they are all legit - I swear!!

Today is my last day to get a couple small projects done around the house before birthday parties this weekend. I got these up on the wall and am deciding if I should leave it the way it is or have a frame made to go around it. What do you think?
I reorganized the basement for the time being. I kind of like it, but Brad isn't a fan. Too bad I guess cause this is how it is staying (for awhile at least).

I also cleaned and moved stuff around in the toyroom. It is amazing how much crap you can get into such a small space!
I am most proud of the fact that I got the kids' pictures in their frames already. For those that know me, you know I can have empty frames sittting/hanging around my house for months. This is huge! Look at those cuties!!

Off to the projects. I have decided to keep the kids home today since I haven't seen them much since our parents weekend (an absolute blast by the way!) This means that only half the list might get done and any mess I clean up will need to be cleaned again in about 30 minutes. Oh well, they are way more important than a clean house!

Summer treats!

Brad got our first batch of sweet corn this weekend and he put it on the grill last night. It was really good and the kids loved it!
This is what was left after Tate devoured his first piece.
The kids helped "clean" the corn before we got started. I think I was the one who really did the cleaning - afterwards!
Tate was hilarious! He left nothing on the ear!
After each bite he would say "yum" and then take another huge bite!

Teagan has always loved sweet corn. Good thing she still has her front two teeth for summer!

Trying to fit into Daddy's shoes. Someday buddy!

This is nothing new. Teagan usually has a new pair of shoes on before I do!

Going crazy with the "shakers".

More self portraits taken by Teagan! I seriously think she might be a photographer someday!Enough of the pictures Teagan!!

Have a good week everyone!!

You should see the other guy!

The kids got their pictures taken today and everything went great. Until they were over that is. While waiting to view our pictures Tate somehow hit his head on the couch in the waiting room. It swelled up and turned blue in about 5 seconds and is bigger than any goose-egg I have ever seen!
It was hard to get a good picture, but I think you get the idea. You might notice the scrape on his nose and above his lip. That happened later in the day - yep, not a good day for Tate!!
Here are Teagan's battle scars. She learned to ride her bike about a week ago and has done her fair share of falling. Her steering is getting better, but braking is a whole other story!!

I guess this is what I look like when I blog. Teagan got ahold of the camera again!
The boys! This is Tate's "cheese" face.

M.I.A.

It feels like I haven't blogged in forever, but the last 4 days have been crazy. What have I been doing? Here it is:
Our sewer backed up on Friday morning, nothing too major, but enough to have to move stuff away from the drains in the laundry room. After everything was taken care of I realized this was a good time to dig out this old table that I have been planning to use for quite awhile. Here it is with the the layers. The darkest was on top, the light brown underneath, and the oak is what the table really is. It looks really nice. I will update on its new home later.

Today I am cleaning up the kids' toy room. We took the old TV and entertainment center down there and I finally made room for some books I have been saving for Teagan. Anyone remember these? Wow, that was a long time ago!!
I am trying to find curtains for the kitchen, but no luck yet. I really want some cool blinds, but they aren't in the budget right now. I found these temporary ones at Walmart and really like them. They are great at keeping out the sunlight and you can "adjust" them (hence the clips at the bottom). I even cut them to fit and didn't have to pay anyone to do it - bonus!! The grand total - about $13 and 8 minutes of my day! Not bad.
My garden is doing awesome! Here are some of the first zucchini squash.
I also cleaned and re-organized this. I hate coat closets! Everything gets thrown in on the floor. Never by me of course!!
And this bad boy. I really want pull-out shelves, but that isn't in the budget either. So I make due with the wire shelf. It fell down the other day - I guess a sign that it was due for a little makeover.
I know how you feel buddy! Back to the dungeon - if you don't hear from me soon come and dig me out!!

I think your slip is showing

Your slipcover that is.

I had an old slipcover on this couch, but it was starting to really bother me. I found this one at Wal-mart, more than I wanted to pay, but worth it.
The old one was khaki colored and this one is green. I am not super sure about it - might have to give it a couple days.
I found this at Hobby Lobby today - $13!! I have been perusing around for a plant stand for outside and was so excited to come upon this one today.
Yes, my plants and pots need some help. Saving that project for a raining day, but I do have one. Would you expect anything less?

Got some of my pictures on the wall tonight. They might look a little uneven, but rest assured I used a level. Must be the picture taker!!

Paint & a Haircut!

Like "shave and a haircut, two bits". My goal was to get that tune in your head. If it is ... your welcome!
I got these great jars at Goodwill the other day. The total (drumroll please)... $3.96! The blue ones were $.99 each. I love them and this is how I used them.
I did a ton of painting today, but almost the entire kitchen is done! I will share final pictures when all the walls look like I want.
Below the cupboards is the next project.
Here is the main kitchen wall before - after taking down the border.
Garage door - with border. Nice, huh? This was one of those "I own my first house and I can put up anything I want!" moments.

Here they are after. I light orangish and the back wall is a caramel color. I really like it!This is before rearranging, but you get the idea. The tile on the wall is what we want to use as the backsplash above the counter. Plus some kind of curtain and maybe blinds for the window. We'll see! Here is the haircut part. Brad has cut Tate's hair ever since it was long enough to cut. We have never taken him anywhere - he does great with Brad. I love that he stands in the sink!

Yes, I am a nerd!

I will readily admit it - I am a history geek! Today we lost one of the best journalists the world has known.

Walter Cronkite passed away at age 92 and I still get chills when I watch his broadcasts of JFK's assassination and the moonwalk. He was so into each moment and people related to him. Here is a link to a video about him if you are interested.

In other Schaefer news:

*Teagan is headed to the world famous Adventureland tomorrow. If it isn't too cool (why am I saying that in July?) it should be a great day. It is her birthday present from Uncle Shane and Aunt Lindsay. I love the kind of presents they enjoy but don't take up any room at our house!

*I am currently in birthday party planning mode. 3 weeks until the big bash - yes, we do both parties together. Teagan wanted butterflies (has tried to change her mind since then, but I am making her stick with it). Tate is doing John Deere because he seems to love everything farm right now. He comes by it naturally! I bought a ton of stuff for $1 last year when Paper Factory was clearancing it out - yea!!!

Maybe with only one kid tomorrow I will get some projects done around the house. Wishful thinking since I am keeping the kid who makes the biggest mess!!
